Blog Post #6

The podcast's I chose to listen to where Education Week and NPR. I have never really listened to podcast's before, but I found it to actually be enjoyable. It was very different to listen to someone talk about a topic rather than just reading an article. Also, it was a lot easier to just listen to someone talk rather than read. Furthermore, I did like to try something new, but I am not sure if podcast's are really my thing. For me I like to highlight in articles, and make notes about them.

The first podcast I listened to was one on the Harmony Project in Los Angeles and it was by NPR. I thought this was interesting podcast because of the project, and what all it did. The project used music to bring children, and there community together. Moreover, they had there own space that the harmony project provided , and they got free music lessons.  This project has helped children of all ages gain confidence that they could do something, and do it well. Many of the children struggled in school, but they found that having musical instrument helped them in school.

The second podcast I listened to was called College Board's Coleman says "Numbers must change" by Education Week. This podcast talked about David Coleman and his role in creating the Common Core Standards. Also, it talks about his history and how he go elected to the College Board which created the Common Core Standards. Also, it talked about the new path that extend from kindergarten to advance placement test, and the SAT exam.
